Privacy Policy
Who we are
BDX Connect is the companion app for the BDX vehicle performance programmer, made by Derive Power I, LLC ("Derive Systems", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
It covers the BDX Connect app for iPhone and Android. Our websites and other products have their own privacy notices.
The app has no accounts. It never asks for your name, email address, or phone number.
Information the app collects automatically
The app uses Google Firebase to tell us when it crashes and which parts of it are used.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): what the app was doing when it crashed, your phone's model and operating system version, and an identifier for this installation of the app.
- App usage (Google Analytics for Firebase): which screens of the app are opened and when, with an identifier for this installation. Google may estimate an approximate location, such as a city or region, from your phone's IP address.
These installation identifiers are created by Firebase. They are not your name, your phone number, or your phone's advertising identifier. The app does not use the advertising identifier on iPhone. On Android, Google's analytics tools may be able to read the advertising identifier.
Information you choose to send
The app sends information from your BDX to Derive Systems only when you start a job on the BDX that needs it.

The app's log records what it did: connections, messages exchanged with the BDX, and errors.
The app never sends your contacts, photos, messages, or other files from your phone.
Permissions the app asks for
Each permission is used only to connect to your BDX. You can turn any of them off in your phone's settings. The features that need it stop working.

While your phone is on the BDX's Wi-Fi, the app reaches our servers over your mobile data connection.
How we use information
We use the information above only to run the app and support your BDX:
- to deliver software, tunes, and files that match your BDX and vehicle;
- to store the files you upload;
- to answer support requests;
- to find and fix crashes, and to see which parts of the app are used;
- to protect our services and meet legal obligations.
We don't use it for advertising, and we don't build profiles of you.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. The app contains no advertising, and it doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We share information only:
- with service providers that run parts of the app for us: Google, for Firebase crash reports and app usage, and the cloud service that stores files you upload. They may use it only to provide those services;
- when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or Derive Systems;
- as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires.

How we protect information
We encrypt the files and logs the app sends to our servers, and we limit access to the people who need it to support you.
Your choices and rights
- Choose what to send. Files leave your BDX only when you start an upload or support job. Uninstalling the app stops all collection by it.
- Ask to see or delete your information. Contact us with your BDX's serial number. The app has no accounts, so the serial number is how we find what belongs to you.
- US state privacy rights. Depending on where you live, such as California, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We don't sell or share it that way. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Children's privacy
BDX Connect is meant for adults who own a BDX, and it is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app or its store listing before a significant change takes effect.
